| This laboratory (118 Science Hall) is used for teaching CAD and the engineering design process to first year students. (EME 105/6). Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors working on their design project also use this room.
The lab features ten desktop computers equipped with a range of software: For example the most up to date SolidWorks version is loaded each summer. There are companies in Dubuque and all over the world that use SolidWorks. DesignWorks functions within SolidWorks and allows for kinematic analyses and finite element analyses (both stress and thermal FEA). Modellus is used for physical modeling. C++ and Matlab are used for engineering computations. Simulink is used for simulating dynamic systems and associated control systems. |
